I’ve been up to new tricks…. namely- Newslettering. I’ve somehow managed to confront my morbid fear of Mailing List compiling and actually sent a real life Newsletter with pictures and words and everything! Jack Potter, a successful illustrator in his own right (mainly in the 50s & 60s) went on to have his most major impact as an Illustration tutor n guru. He’s well known for his colourful fashion and lifestyle pieces but these simple line drawings really really took m’fancy.

TAMARA DE LEMPICKA

Tamara De Lempicka has nowt to do with Lemsip, or that tiny nosed hoity toity blonde bird off the telly… she has everything to do with top bleedin notch portraits of mainly fanshy ladies, the occasional nun (which is never a bad thing in my book) and a still life or two. Her fanshy ladies manage to capture the essence of the time- the angles and sheen of the roaring twenties and thirties… but they also manage to remain fresh looking, decades later. She is, in other words- a clever bastard (ess).

Meself and me fella Dwayne Bell of Langholm Town are having a wee exhibition at Glasgow’s hub or all things visually urban- Recoat Gallery. For some reason they thought us fashionable enough to show our work there and hey presto- ‘Illustrated Love Affair’ was born. Running until 16th September, you’ll find it at 323 North Woodside Road. If you’re lucky enough Marcie the dog will be present for some patting fun.

As an owner of a 'strong nose', tis nice to see other non-teeny conks on
lovely ladies and Anjelica always gives good face. Her face makes me 
want to drrraaaaaaaw.

Am thinking of drawing Joanie for upcoming exhibition... I love her ability to be 
beautiful and wonky simultaneously. Clearly bonkers but a cracking sense of 
d-r-a-m-a. And gawd knows, I love a bit o drama <jazz hands>
